I am researching how the period of genocide of civil war is taught in Guatemalan secondary schools today, and how this connects to the formation of a national memory and identity.
The Honors Fellowship is providing me with invaluable support that allows me to travel to Guatemala to complete research.

Future Plans: I would like to teach English in Guatemala following graduation, and hope to eventually pursue my doctorate in Latin American History.
