Title of Project:
Receptor Gone Rogue: Investigating Localization of a Cancerous Thyroid Hormone Receptor
Advisor: Liz Allison
Honors Department: Biology

I am exploring how a mutation in a thyroid hormone receptor (a protein in charge of the cellular response to thyroid hormone) affects its location and movement within the cell. This mutant thyroid hormone receptor is implicated in a type of liver cancer, so understanding all of the differences between the mutant and the normal receptor is important for understanding and treating the cancer.
